This webquest helps my students to learn about the world around them and about why people need jobs. This is for around second grade.

Process
1. Watch this video about different types of jobs. Jobs and Occupations - Vocabulary for Kids - Compilation - YouTube This can be done independently or as a whole group.
2. Students will choose one job they want when they get older. They will draw a picture of it and write in two or three sentences what that job does.
3. We will discuss some vocabulary that will be in the next video such as politician, passion, Steve jobs (who he is), revolutionize, fame. Students will write a few words to remember each vocabulary.
4. Students will watch this video on why people need jobs. Why do people work? - YouTube
5. Students will write an exit ticket on three things they learned about jobs.
6. As a whole class we will discuss what life would be like with no job.
Evaluation
Students will be assessed on their future job pic and their sentences about the job.
Students will be evaluated on their vocabulary definitions they created.
students will also be evaluated on their exit ticket.
Conclusion
Students learned about various jobs and why you need one as well as discussed what it would be like without one.
