Introduction
Hi there story detectives! I'm here with your next mission.

You did such a fantastic job solving the case of "Locating the missing protagonist and antagonist".
You have been hired for a new case, "The case of the unidentified setting".
The first part of your new case is to get some background information. In order to find the unidentified setting, you need to first know what a setting is!
Task
Your task is to watch some surveillance videos to begin to form an idea of what you are looking for. Watch the two included videos and take case notes. You are expected to know everything about a setting so you will be ready to identify our missing setting.

Use note taking strategies you have learned so far, like using different headings for categories, write the details in your own words, use bullet points to separate your notes, and use an organizational tool like a table.
Process
Here are the surveillance videos.
Examine them carefully. Remember our detective watching skills like pausing, rewinding, and playing again to find all those important details that you might miss on your first view.
Record your notes in a Google Doc.
Evaluation
Now that you have your case notes made and you understand the setting, you will have an idea of what to look for in this case. You now need to find the "Unidentified Setting". Carefully watch the final surveillance video below. Use your notes to detect the missing setting. Use the same organizational tools to keep track of your notes. Remember that a setting has three main parts for you to find, so your notes will be nice and organized if you have at least three main headings. Good luck detectives, the job is in your hands!
Use your same Google Doc to record your findings. Turn in your Google Doc to the assignment on Google Classroom for inspection by your senior officer.
Conclusion
Congratulations on completing the case!
Now that you have a good idea of what a setting in a story is, it's time for you to start thinking of what setting you will use in your own story. You have made your characters, and thought about their looks, personalities, and character traits. Now it's time to design the world they live in. Stories have more than one place that the characters are in. So it's helpful to start with the overall ideas, and then work towards the most specific.
Your job today:
Design the overall world the characters are in.
Time: what time does your story take place? Is it in the present, past, future? Tell the time your story takes place in.
Place: What world does your story take place in? Is it the 'real world' or some other of your design. Describe the world.
