European Winter Holidays

Introduction

All over the world, different countries celebrate different holidays. To go along with our global magnet theme, each homeroom will be researching one European holiday and one of the holidays that this country celebrates in the winter. As a class, you will research the holidays' traditions, food, clothing, festivities, etc. Once complete, your homeroom will be decorating the classroom door and wall outside of the class with symbols that represent the country and holiday they chose.

To begin, you must do a little bit of research. Each 8th grade homeroom will start by picking ONE country. Throughout this webquest you will use the links provided to research the different holidays celebrated in different European countries.

As you go through the links, you will take notes on each country. Then you will pick the country you would like to choose and present it to the rest of your homeroom for a vote.

Task

Either in pairs or on your own, you will use the links below to research the different European countries as well as the different holidays celebrated in these countries.

Click on each of the links and jot down notes on the note-catcher provided on Google Classroom or Canvas.

Once you have researched each country, you will decide on the one country that you would like to use to research holidays further. Then you will present this country to your homeroom and as a class, you all will vote on ONE country.
