Writing Narrative Text

Introduction

This WebQuest is designed for high school students grade 10th to understand the correct concept of writing narrative text.

Task
  • Read the materials about narrative text
  • Choose one topic of folklore for your further analysis :
  1. Folktale
  2. Personal experience
  3. Fables
  4. Fairy stories
  • Write a narrative text with the topic that you choose at least 500-700 words which contain of title, abstract, orientation, complication, resolution, and coda (optional).
  • Present your narrative text in a video orally
Process

Step 1 : What  is narrative text?

            Narrative text is a piece of text which tells a story and entertains the reader or listener. On the other words, narrative is created by someone for telling the story such as folk tale, animal fairy tales (fable), and myth. The purpose of this text is to amuse or to entertain the readers and the listeners.  Narrative text also have the generic structure same as the others kinds of text.

step 2 : How to write narrative text?

            In writing the narrative text, there is four main components of  genre structure such as abstract, orientation, complication, and resolution. Abstract, it talks about thematic predictions in the early story that can provide insight into what the text will be about. Orientation, it contains the introduction of the characters involved in an event in the story. Not only talk about the characters but also the scene, and time of the story. Complication, it consists of paragraph that describes the beginning of events. Step 3 : Making a process of writing

            There are 4 main components to making a process of good writing. First, you are going to write the pre-writing. In this first component is a way to get the ideas, choose a topic, and then collecting the ideas to explain the topic. Organizing your ideas into several genre structure in the form of outline which contain of abstract (optional), orientation, evaluation (optional) , complication ,and resolution. You can add coda for the moral value that you can write. The next step is making a rough draft. Rough draft arranged based on the outline in the previous stage. Last step is revising and editing. You can read again your rough draft and editing the words or wrong grammar for the better result.

Step 4 : Start producing the narrative text

            You can write the narrative text directly on the paper, or type and print it. After your final text is done, you have to present your narrative text in a video orally. You can also use video features application such as VidioShow, FilmoraGo, and another free apps that you can choose from your phone. Try to make it more interesting with a music, pictures, and soon.
