Introduction
Have you ever wondered what the real meaning of the song? With this WebQuest, you can discover so much about the connotative meaning from the song!
Task
Pair with your friend, and make a presentation using PowerPoint explaining about connotative meaning of the song with these requirement:
- Each pair should provide minimum 3 connotative meaning from the song
- You can use any videos/pictures related to the song to strengthen your findings about connotative meaning from the song (you can use a video interview with the band about the song that is widely spread on the internet)
- The videos/pictures which used in presentation should be a good resolution (1920 x 1080p)
After making a PowerPoint presentation, each pair should present their findings in front of the class. You should present your findings with clear voice and good pronunciation. Your presentation must be in 5-10 minutes.

1.What is connotative meaning? : Connotative meaning is a word or expression signifying or suggestive of an associative or secondary meaning in addition to the primary meaning. Connotative meaning can found from anywhere, from songs, poems, short story,etc. In this WebQuest, you’ll find a connotative meaning from a song.

After choosing one of the existing songs, please listen to the song carefully and watch the videos.
5. Repeat the song : After listening to the song you choose, you can repeat it again to get more knowledge of the song.
6.Find the connotative meaning : After you feel you know enough about the connotative meaning of the song, you can take notes first. You can look for other sources on the internet about the song to strengthen your discovery of the connotative meaning.
For example, I found a connotative meaning on December Pt.1 by Neck Deep lyrics, "I hope you get your ballroom floor, Your perfect house with rose red doors." the connotative meaning i can get is "he wishes all good things for her." because at the official music video showing the woman with the less-than-good house.(you can insert the video on your PowerPoint to show the evidence to audiences)
7. Arrange your findings : Last, after found connotative meaning on the lyrics, you should arrange your findings on PowerPoint and make it attractive to you classmates. You can use any videos/pictures related to your findings. Good luck for your presentation!
