Introduction
Task
You and your team members will start a business and bring an important product or service to market. For your product to sell successfully, each team member must complete a job. This web exploration will guide your team through the process of discovering what it takes to market a product or service.
This task will involve each team member answering questions and researching information to develop a marketing mix for your product or service. Your team will have four days to work in class to reach consensus and design a PowerPoint presentation to describe your business, your product, and your target market. At the end of this task, your team will produce a PowerPoint presentation that summarizes the decisions you made for your business.
Process
- You will work in a designated team. Each student should participate in the task to help the group make the correct decision. The main resource for this project will be your Focus Business textbook.
- Your team decides to start a business based on a primary product. Your team must first agree on what the product should be.
- As a group, decide what name to choose for your business. Research ideas and be creative.
- Next, you need to determine what your main product is. Will you sell your products to consumers or customers?
- You may need to decide which secondary products may be necessary for the success of your business.
- Your team will continue to develop the product and its features. Why would anyone want to buy it? How will it be packaged?
- Your team will study the cost involved in product development to determine value and price.
- As a team, you will determine where your business should be located to better serve your customers. Who is your target market? How will you position your products to reach them?
- Your team will develop a promotional plan for your product. How bad is your ad? What type of community service will your company participate in to promote your company's good reputation?
Evaluation
You will be scored individually and your score will be determined using the following criteria. In addition to the following categories, another category will be scored: PowerPoint presentations. The explanation of this category is included in the rubric below.
