Task

Essay Task

You are required to write an essay based on the Concept of Quality.

Your essay should include:

Name and Surname on cover page

Maximum of 2 pages

Marks:40

Due Date: 9 September 2021

The following format should be used when writing your essay.

Introduction

Start your essay by writing the word Introduction as your first heading. You are required to underline all headings and subheadings in the essay. The introduction should have Two complete facts related to the topic. Do not repeat the given scenario as no marks will be rewarded for this.

Body

You are required to write the word body after the introduction. The body of the essay must be divided according to subheadings. The subheadings are the main points that you are required to write about or explain which will be given in the instruction. The bullets given need to be rewritten as subheadings. For every subheading provide a minimum of 4-5 full actual sentences on the relevant subheading. Do not repeat facts nor the information given in the scenario as no marks will be given for repetition.

Conclusion

Start with writing the word conclusion after your body. You are required to end your essay with a minimum of Two relevant and meaningful facts of the topic discussed without repeating any of the facts given in the essay. Summarise your key points by bringing the ideas together. No marks will be rewarded for repetition. It is important that your opinion is presented in the conclusion.

Quality

Quality refers to a goods/service ability to satisfy a specific need and exceeds customers’ expectations on a continuous basis.

Quality Control

A system that ensures the desired quality is met by inspecting the final product to ensure that it meets the required standards.

Quality Assurance

Checks carried out during and after the production process to ensure required standards have been met at every stage of the process.

Quality Management

The process of managing all activities needed to ensure a business produces goods and services of consistently high standard.

General Management

  • The correct decisions must be taken by management.
  • Management must set realistic goals for the business.
  • Ensure that employees have necessary resources to do their work/allocate resources effectively.

Financial function

  • Accurate records of all transactions must be kept.
  • Business should maximise profits by ensuring that money is used carefully and not wasted.
  • Financial team should be able to account for every cent spent and justify the quality it brings to the process.

Purchasing Function

  • Identification & Selection of reliable suppliers.
  • Establishing sound relationships with suppliers
  • Regular check-ups to ensure that goods are delivered on time.

Production Function

  • Products of good quality must be produced.
  • Sufficient quantity of products must be produced.
  • Clearly communicate the roles and responsibilities to the production workforce.

Public Relations

  • Regular communication with the media is essential.
  • All communications should aim to promote a positive image of the business.
  • Dealing quickly with negative publicity.
  • Positive feedback from public surveys on business image.

Marketing Function

  • Using pricing techniques to ensure a competitive advantage.
  • W1inning customers by satisfying their needs.
  • Effective product development and packaging.

Administrative Function

  • Information collection must be reliable.
  • Handle complaints quickly and effectively.
  • Make relevant information available for quick decision-making.

Human Resources Function

  • Ensure that the best candidate is appointed in vacant positions.
  • Employees must be placed in positions where their talents and skills could be used to the best benefit of the company.
  • Fair and equitable selection process.

James enterprise appointed Larry to hire and train new employees. Larry has requested Adam to provide him with the details of the salary bill. James has instructed Clint to ensure that the manufactured goods are of good quality standard. Themba will be responsible to provide management with the latest information regarding the industry.

 

 

Quality is necessary for businesses to ensure mistakes and defects are eliminated. Write an essay explaining how the following business functions can contribute to the quality of performance of the business.

32 max

  • The maximum number of marks that will be rewarded for the amount of facts provided are 32.
  • The facts need to be in full sentences and should have a supporting sentence to obtain full marks per fact.  

Layout

2 max

  • 2 marks will be rewarded for writing the words introduction and conclusion with appropriate facts under each heading.

Analysis

2 max

  • 2 marks will be rewarded if All Headings addressed are correct.
  • 1 mark will be awarded if facts amounting to 16 marks have been provided.
  •  Write as many correct facts under each subheading which should amount to 16 marks of more in the body to obtain another 1 mark for analysis.

 

Synthesis

2 max

  • 2 marks will be awarded for synthesis if relevant facts are given. If you do not have synthesis you will receive no (-S).
  • 1 mark will be awarded for synthesis if some irrelevant facts are given. (1-S).
  • 0 marks will be awarded for synthesis if no relevant facts are given (2-S).

 

Originality

2 max

  • 2 marks will be awarded for relevant examples given in the essay.
  • It is advised that you provide an example at the end of the subheading that is applicable to one of the facts within the subheading.
  • The word example must be written before explaining the example and should be elaborated in the essay.
  • 0 marks will be awarded if no relevant examples are given.

It is also important to understand the role in which quality plays in the business functions. The essay task which you are required to write will prepare you for the exams when are provided with case studies and need to write two business essays.
