Introduction
Good day Students
-
Today we will be doing a theory assignment based on 'APP's in Education'. (This relates to ICT's within the classroom.)
Below are some videos links on what useful APP's are available for students to use within the classroom environment.
(Please watch the videos as this will assist you with your assignment)

Please re-write the notes below in your workbooks, as discussed in class:
Application software has taken over the 21st century and has been the
new norm of human engagement. Dahl (2020) stated that over 20 million
people in SA use smartphones and over 80% of users make use of
applications for social engagement and work-related activities. Given the
many academic challenges faced in South African schools and ever-changing
culture. Chen et al (2015) suggests that learners are more interested in
social media and technology. Based on this assumption it is evident that
schools need to look at digitalization and how apps can serve as value for
classroom teacher and learning, classroom management and student
development. My research report will discuss apps in education, its role
and benefits to the classroom and teaching and learning as whole and
one app that serves as a suitable practical platform for CAT teaching.
Task
Scenario:
Everybody is talking about Applications (Apps) in Education.
Explore different Apps available online that you will be able to use in your CAT grade 11 classroom and compile a report.
The following aspects should be explained in depth in your report:
(Please take note of the mark allocation for each question and 1. Provide as much information as possible, 2. Provide realistic examples where possible, and 3. Reference your sources using the 'Harvard Style referencing')
1.What are APPS in education? [30]
2.The role of APPS in education [20]
3.The Value of APPS in the classroom [15]
4. The Benefits of APPS in the classroom [15]
5. Provide a useful APP and how to use it in class [20]
- the total assignment is out of 100 -
Process
Consider these questions when determining whether an app meets your criteria for motivation:
- Is the learning content in the app the right level for your grade 11 learners?
- Will learners want to go back to the app often?
- How does the app build on skills (lower order, middle order and higher order)?
- Discuss your App and explain how you will use it referring to the above questions?
REPORT
The report must comply with the following requirements:
-
Table of contents

NB! PLAGIARISM IS A CRIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Evaluation
Below is the rubric for the assignment:
Please read through it carefully in order to successfully complete the assignment.
Conclusion
After today's assignment, we learnt tons about APP's in education and how useful they can be. Next week we will focus on practical's, where you will demonstrate your APP in class.
Please jot down the following conclusion about APP's in education in your workbooks:
Applications indeed play and important role in education. It has the power to change
the narrative of education is interpreted and synthesis and by implementing education
in classrooms. It makes teaching methodologies better and for more interesting and caters for
the term “diversity of thought”. In doing so we are bridging the gap between the digital
