Sectors of the economy (Business Studies grade 10 lesson4)

Introduction

Last term in business studies we learned about factors of production that are used to produce goods, now we are looking at the sectors of the economy for every goods and service that we use as consumers. there are three sectors of the economy that every product must pass through before they reach consumers, i.e Primary sector, Secondary sector, and Tertiary sector. 

 

Task

                               Activity 1

Classify the businesses by economic sectors:

  1. give a brief definition of the three economic sectors.
  2. study the table below and identify which sector of the economy each example falls under. put a tick under the correct column for each example. the first one has been already done for you.

Process

Memorandum, Rubric for marking and mark allocation for each question

1. (9 marks) for explaining all three sectors of the economy and giving examples on each sector.

2. (16 marks) for matching the description given to the correct sector.

Conclusion

Now that we know how the production process of goods takes place from raw material up to finished goods that we use as consumers, you can think of any product of your choice and try to analyze its production process up until it's finished.
