Hello students! Today you are going to learn about how COVID-19 works, and how to deal with it. You will be reading a short story called "The Inside Book" written and illustrated by Matthew Griffiths.

Task
During this webquest:
- The learner's task is, before reading, make predictions about the story, brainstorm vocabulary based on their own knowledge and experiences living with COVID-19. During reading they have to highlight expressions and words they do not know. And after reading, they have to confirm predictions, find the meaning of the words and expressions already highlighted. Finally, answer questions, and write a reflection.
- The learner can use online dictionaries and translators.
By the end of this webquest:
- Students will be able to recognize frequent expressions and vocabulary related to COVID-19.
- Students will have navigation skills as the task requires the use different online tools such as dictionary and translator.
Process
Step 1: Open the following link https://storyberries.com/bedtime-stories-the-inside-book-kids-stories-about-covid-19/
- Then, read the title of the story and then do a skimming of the text.
- After you read it, you will be doing a brainstorming and making predictions based on your own knowledge.
- Any idea of what the text will be about? key words? expressions? Here is a hint: wear a mask. People can't go outside.
Step 2: Now start reading the story.
- There is an audio attached that you must listen, it would help you to understand better.
- You must highlight the words and expressions that you are not familiar with.
- Pay attention to the illustrations, they also help to have a better understanding of the paragraphs' content.
Step 3: After reading the story, you have to confirm your predictions. Were they correct?
- Now, open the following dictionary: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/ and look for the meaning of the words that you highlighted. You can also use the translator https://www.deepl.com/es/translator for expressions.
- Write down in your notebook or in a word file the list of the words, expressions and their meanings in english and spanish. You have to include at least 10. Here is an example:

7. What is the meaning of "grown-ups"?
- Read the following passage:
"Being stuck inside can be lonely, and the virus is scary. We're all in this together though. It's okay to feel sad sometimes. We should tell the grown-ups how we feel, and be kind to each other"
What do you think about feeling lonely and sad during this pandemic? Have you ever felt like that? Have you enjoyed your time at home?
