Life Sciences webquest grade 11: Excretory system

Introduction

Good day learners. Welcome to the Life Sciences webquest. Today we are going to look at excretory system, to be specific the human excretory organs. And you will be given an assignment where you are required to write an essay.

Task

For this task you are going to work individually, this is to make sure that I get the feedback from all of you on your understanding of the topic that we are doing. You are required to draw a labelled mind map of human excretory organs and write a short essay explaining the importance and function of these organs, also give a brief description of the structure of each organ. Your essay should consist of an introduction and a conclusion.

Process

  • Firstly, you need to draw a mind map. 
  • Label your mind map starting with the introduction, all human excretory organs and then the conclusion.
  • Your introduction should consist of the definition, importance of excretion and types of wastes that are eliminated by the human body.
  • When doing your body, make sure that for each organ that you have mentioned in your mind map, you provide the required information in a correct and neat way.
  • Lastly, do your conclusion by giving a brief summary of what you have touched in your essay. 

Evaluation

I will provide a marking guide for you to know what is expected from you.

Mind map 7 marks
An introduction 7 marks
Body 30 marks

Conclusion

Each and every learner of grade 11 has to complete this assignment as it is a formative assessment and counts towards the final mark. It also helps to test the understanding of learners in this topic.
