WHAT IS CREATIVE THINKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING ?

Creative thinking :

- Creative thinking refers to thinking differently and looking at something in a new way.

- Creative thinking is about approaching a thought/idea/problem/situation in a new and interesting way.

- It is a process of putting facts/concepts/principles together in new and original ways.

- Businesses need to solve their problems efficiently to find creative solutions to problems

Problem solving :

- It is a clear process to follow whenever a problem needs to be solved. 

- A process of finding the correct strategy to respond to a problem.

- Problem solving involves analytical and creative skills.

Question 1

Read the scenario in the table below and answer the question that follow.

Jorden Clothing Manufacturers (JCM) is experiencing low productivity. In order to be competitive, they must address this problem proactively and creatively, before it impacts negatively on their profitability.

Instruction : As a consultant to Jorden Clothing Manufacturers, you strongly believe that the challenges facing JCM can be overcome. In a well-balanced report, justify how this can be done by answering the following questions:

1.1 Explain the role of creative thinking in solving complex business problems.

1.2 Name steps that JCM management can take to address the above challenges.

NB: Your report should consist of a Introduction, Body and Conclusion.

Conclusion

In this lesson we have identified the importance of creative thinking and problem solving. 

You have now gotten an idea on how to solve a problem. Those 7 steps in solving a problem does not just relate to business studies, but both you and I can apply it in our daily lives.
