Introduction
Today we are going to be going on a field trip to discover some of the different monuments around Washington D.C. There are so many different things that are important to learn and would take us a month to learn about all of them. We are going to talk about the White House and the US Capitol I want you to close your eyes and imagine that you are at each of these sites. Try to think about what you see, feel, taste, hear, and smell and try to place yourself at that specific site. Make sure that you are taking notes about what you learned as you are going to need to write a paragraph about each place learned.
Ready to go? Let's get started!

Task

As you work through each place make sure that you are:
1) taking notes about each place
2) write down what 5 senses you think that you would experience
Process
1) The first thing that we are going to talk about is the White House. Did you know that the President of the United States lives in the White House? As you explore the links below then you can explore the different parts of the White House and the history about the White House. Take a few minutes to explore the link and write down some notes about it. After you finish that watch the video underneath the top link and write down a place you would like to see.

2) The Capitol building is the second building we are going to explore. In the Capitol a lot of important things are happening, here they make laws and debate about different issues. In the first link I would like you to look around and explore the different links. After that, you need to take some notes about what you are learning. Then you need to use the second link to take the "tour" of the Capitol building. The third link gives you a video tour of the different buildings.

Teacher Introduction
Learning about the different places in D.C is so important. Choosing what to choose is so hard and it can seem daunting and overwhelming. The White House and the Capitol are two of the most important building in D.C. but I have found that when I was in school I never got to experience a tour of the White House or the Capitol so being able to help students to see different parts or aspects about the buildings that they might not get to see is important.
The student should spend about 1-2 days exploring the WebQuest and the links included.
The student should spend 1 period working on finalizing their paragraphs.
The student should spend 1 period writing down their 5 senses that they experienced.
Afterward:
Talk about what they learned through WebQuest.
Create a list of things learned and things students would like to learn.
