Which Food Group is most Important

Introduction

Using the food pyramid each group will select a food group they think is most beneficial to them during the school day. Each group will give their justification for their selection and share with the group why it's more important. Then at the end we will put our findings together so that the class will have a better understanding of the importance of different food groups.

Task

Each group will pick a food group they believe is more beneficial. You will use different resources to become more familiar with the food group of their choice. You can use books, magazines, web links, and other resources. The groups will be able to report the foods that belong in that group, the amount of intake per serving of the food and what it does for the body.

Process

Each group will give each person in their group a task;

First student will research the different foods in the group.

Second student will search for the value of each serving.

Third student will record the nutritional/calories.

Fourth student will illustrate and group the colors of different food items.

The entire group will come together and illustrate and balance MyPlate.
