Introduction
This WebQuest is designed for 3rd students. It is identifying, creating, and answering questions about certain literary devices of a self-chosen book to better understand the overall purpose of the book.
Who is the main character(s)? What is the major conflict(s)? What are the major theme(s)? These are three questions you should be thinking about when you are reading a book. Now it’s your turn to find a book that interests you. Go explore the unknown world through books! Yay!
Task
As a team, you and your group will work together to answer the three major questions that relate to your reading project.
First, you and your group will choose a book.
The self-chosen book needs to be nonfiction (not a true story). Remember to work together to choose a book.
Second, you and your group will answer the three questions.

Third, you and your group will use a table to collect your information
Lastly, you and your group will create a Powerpoint presentation that displays your answers to the following questions.

Once you’ve chosen a book, you and your group will need to identify the character(s), conflict(s), and theme(s).
Types of Conflict:
Character vs. Character: Central character is fighting against an another character
Ex. Rumpelstiltskin vs. Queen
Character vs. Self: Central character is fighting against him or herself
Ex. The Queen had to decide whether to give Rumpelstiltskin her daughter or to save her life.
Character vs. Society: Central character is fighting against a law, tradition, or institution.
Character vs. Nature: Central character is fighting against the forces of nature
Ex. The Queen was fighting against time to save her daughter from Rumpelstiltskin
Character vs. Technology: Central character is fighting against technological forces
Examples of Themes: love, power, responsibility, good vs. evil, loneliness, and etc.
