Oobleck Experiment

Introduction

Today we will be doing an experiment called oobleck. This experiment was created by dr. Seuss. Once created it will become a substance that when it is hit forcefully it will act as a solid and something is softly sat on it acts like a liquid. 

Task

The task is to read the Dr. Seuss book “Bartholomew and the Oobleck '' and then  create the oobleck that is talked about in the story. This is a slime that will be both a liquid and a solid. You will then answer these questions?

What causes this reaction?

Why is this the reaction the oobleck has?

Process

You will need these three things to create your oobleck.

- 1 cup of water

- 1.5-2 cups cornstarch

- a few drops of food coloring

You will then mix up all the ingredients.

After it is mixed well you can test the statement in the task section above.  

Evaluation

You will be evaluated on the consistency of the oobleck and the way you answered the questions. If they are complete sentences or not. 

Conclusion

Not only once the students have completed this experiment will they know how to make oobleck at home. They will have an understanding of why oobleck has the reaction it does. Also what causes this reaction.
