THE UNITED STATES

Introduction

There are, altogether, 50 states in America. It is important, as an American, to know these states and be familiarized with their locations. Could you tell someone what region we are in the United States? By the end of the lesson, you should be able to identify and describe a little information about each state.

Task

You will be completing an assigned group project that is informational and captures the other classmates' attentions. This project will be a poster that shows all the states, along with their regions and an interesting fact about them, such as their state bird. This group activity should help with teamwork skills and a better understanding of America. When project is completed by the due date, each group will present to their class.

Process

  1. First, I will assign you all into groups. This will consist of about 4-5 people each.
  2. Then, discuss as a group what the poster should look like. Be thoughtful and make sure to include all states.
  3. Use your textbooks and resources if you are stuck with identification. Use google to find a special fact for the states. You can also use the websites below for help.
  4. Take notes and get creating!

Conclusion

Knowing the states of America is an important factor when contributing it to situations in the future. What if you even have to travel? When someone describes a state, will you be able to identify what region its in? If you live in America, it is crucial to know your surroundings and your country. It is also just really fun to learn!
