When we want to describe somethings that are happening right now, we use the Present Continuous Tense.

Present continuous tense has another name which is present progressive tense.

 

The structures of the Present Continuous Tense:

 

Positive:

>> Subject + Verb to be (is, am, are) + Verb + ing. <<

 

Negative:

>> Subject + Verb to be (is, am, are) + not + Verb + ing. <<

 

Interrogative:

>> Verb to be (is, am, are) + Subject + Verb + ing ? <<

 

Wh- question:

>> Question words + Verb to be (is, am, are) + Subject + Verb + ing ?<<

 

 

Examples:

  • I am reading a book.
  • She is not running.
  • Are you talking to James?
  • What is he doing at my party?
