Introduction

Have you ever wonder about a pot of boiling water, or  why is it that when you put a cup of water in the freezer it becomes solid as a rock and why is it that when you put down a cup of ice it become liquid? You are in the right place at the right time because we will be discussing States of Matter.

Task

At the end of interacting with this page, students should be able to:

1. Give a definition for states of matter.

2. List the different states of matter and what happen in each state.

3. Write a letter to a friend overseas telling them about what they learned. 

4. Create a podcast, in the form of a song, poem, dub etc. about the different states of matter.

Process

How will students achieve the objectives given in the Task section.

2. 3. Students will write a letter to their friend overseas telling them about the states of matter using the templet outlined given.

4. Students will use a phone, tablet ect to record a podcast doing either a song, poem, dub etc. Students are able to use google podcast or other platform to create podcast.

Assignment Rubric
3 Marks 
  • Students will be given full marks if all the necessary information is given for the states of matter.
   6 Marks 

 

  • Two marks will be awarded for each states of matter and their importance are clearly state for each state. 
   5 Marks
  • Student will get full marks if all the parts of a letter are evident based on templet given. 
   6 Marks
  • Students will be asses based on creativity and the correct use of the information.

 

Conclusion

Students are encouraged to write a reflection about their interaction with the webpage. Students will include: 

  1. In the reflection students will outline any challenges that they faced while engaging in the different activities that they were given.
  2. What could have been different and what are the changes that should be done. This reflection will be done as an extended homework.

                                                                    The goal of the assignment

  • The aim of this assignment is for grade six students to be knowledgeable about matter and that everything around us is considered as matter, they will understand their importance to our day to day existence.

 

  • Students will be given a maximum of four weeks to complete the assignment. Students can also split the assignment into different parts and as soon as they complete the different sections and submit it to get asses which they can then make any changes that were outlined.
