Golden Names in Literature

Introduction

As I spoke to your Literature teacher and learned how much you guys love literature, I decided to plan this lesson in a way that you can share your knowledge with your classmates by using web sites.

Students' age: 17-18

Task

In this lesson, I will give you a task about some "Golden Names" in literature and I want you to prepare a poster about one of them. You can work in groups of 3 - 4. You have 60 minutes to prepare a poster.

Here is an example poster made by me for Ancient Chinese poet Pan Yue: www.postermywall.com/index.php/poster/view/aab00f2e4ef2064eccb8e759fd90…

Here are some web sites you can use to make your posters:

  1. Visme: https://www.visme.co/
  2. Canva: https://www.canva.com/create/posters/
  3. Piktochart: https://piktochart.com/formats/posters/
  4. Adobe Spark: https://spark.adobe.com/make/posters/
  5. Postermywall: https://www.postermywall.com/index.php/l/online-poster-maker#.X8uCXVBS

NOTE: If you like to, you can use any other sites as well.

Process

Here are some "Golden Names" in literature. You are expected to choose one of them and make a poster. Your poster should include; writer's name, birth and death year, short part of their most popular work (you can also choose your favorite one), and a little fun-fact about them.

Edgar Allan Poe

Howard Phillips Lovecraft

William Shakespeare

Osamu Dazai

Bram Stoker

Fyodor Dostoevsky

Ryunosuke Akutagawa

Agatha Christie

Oscar Wilde

Charles Dickens

Franz Kafka

George Orwell

►Since I made one for Pan Yue, I did not add him to list but here are some links if you want more information about him:

Evaluation

Presentation and Content Presenters understand what is expected from them and put enough information about writer. (full name, birth-death date, their famous work/s, some facts about them.) Presenters understand what is expected from them but did not put enough information about writer. (full name, birth-death date, their famous work/s, some facts about them.) Presenters did not understand what is expected from them but did not put enough information about writer. (full name, birth-death date, their famous work/s, some facts about them.)
Texts and Visuals Presenters found visuals that matches with the writer and their text was enough to inform their classmates. (not too long or not too short.) Presenters could have found visuals that matches more with the writer and their text could have been longer/shorter. Presenters did not found visuals that matches with the writer and their text was too long/too short.
Delivery Presenters delivery was perfect. They gave enough information about the writer and start a discussion in class. They did not read form their poster. Presenters delivery was okay. They could give more information about the writer. They read from their poster 2 - 3 times. Presenters delivery could have been better. They mostly read from their poster.

Conclusion

After everyone prepares their posters, you are expected to present your poster. Your classmates will give you feedback.
