In this WebQuest, 10th-grade students will become familiar with other countries, cities, and cultures and will write a blog entry as a famous blogger. There will be sponsors who will support their expenses with a budget (15.000 Turkish Liras + flight tickets). The visit is limited to four days.
Introduction
You as a blogger are sponsored by a travel magazine to visit wherever you want to see with a limited budget. You have 15.000 Turkish Liras and a round trip ticket. Your visit is also limited to four days. After your visit, you need to write a blog to be published in the magazine. If your luggage is ready, let's fly to the Task section!
Task
Welcome to your new WebQuest!
Fasten your belts, guys! You are flying to wherever and whenever you want.
You will choose a city that you want to visit and discover its culture, cuisine, historical places, museums, special events, and weather on your own in four days with a limited budget (15.000 Turkish Liras). You will be given a group of acceptable websites to discover the points of the target city mentioned in the previous sentence. After your discovery of the city, you will write a blog with a set of pictures to be published in your blog and the magazine. You will publish your blogs on Padlet.
While deciding where to go and what to do, keep the currency of the target country in mind.

Step 1
The first thing to do is that decide where you want to go and what you want to do in order to introduce the city to readers of the magazine. After you decide, you should exchange Turkish Liras into the currency of the target country to be able to track your expenses beforehand.
Step 2
In this step, you should ask the questions below for your blog.
- What do I already know about the target city and how will this help me?
- What do people want to know about the city that I will visit?
- What type of information does a good blog have?
To get some idea about the travel blog, check out one of the travel blogs below, and read two entries from the blog that you choose.

Before starting to plan your vacation, watch the video below. You may want to take notes on major points that are useful for you.

- Give two worthy recommendation for your readers to experience or visit when they are in that city. Tell us about why it is important to experience specific places/things (food, drink)/adventures.
- Introduce the city and its cuisine, museums, historical places, touristic areas, entertainments, fests, traditions, popular shopping items.
- Inform the readers of the best time to visit that city. Tell us about the climate and the weather.
- Make sure that you have an itinerary to follow.
- You may give more recommendations.
