The Book With No Pictures

Standards: R.L. K7, R.L.K10

Purpose: Instead of pictures, the words are telling the story. The story is expanding children's imagination and allowing children to hear a word and imagine a picture.

Text Features: Big, Bold, and Colorful text

Materials: The Book With No Pictures, Activity sheet, Crayons 

 

 

 

Task

INTRODUCTION:

The teacher will ask students if they have ever read a book with no pictures? The teacher will give students time to give feedback.

The teacher will explain how the book with no pictures allows their imagination to be endless.

Process

READING THE STORY:

The teacher reads the title, author, and illustrator. The teacher will remind students what a title, author, and illustrator are.

The teacher will allow students to interact with the book throughout.

As the teacher reads, the teacher will ask students to act out the funny or silly words.

 

Evaluation

ACTIVITY:

Students will get out their crayons while the teacher passes out The Book With No Pictures activity sheet.

Students will use their imagination to create pictures with names of characters. 

Students will have their own activity sheet and when activity sheet is finished students will share with their classmates. 

Conclusion

AFTER THE READING:

After reading The Book With No Pictures and creating drawings, the teacher will commend the students on their creativity. 

Teacher will ask the students what character was their favorite.

Students will respond appropriately.
