This Webquest will focus on aspects of some countries in Latin America in terms of geography, culture, and economy.

As we begin our weekly unit on Latin American countries, we are going to explore and get a taste of Latin American countries by diving into some of them. Many of you have already heard of some Latin American countries, or even heard some Latin American singers or football players. In this Webquest, we are going to learn more deeply about Latin American culture and Latin American cultures with the help of some videos and websites.

This Webquest will take 2 days to complete, so please try to learn as much as possible :))))

Latin American Culture

Task

Throughout this Webquest, you will view and discover the geography, culture, economics of Latin America.  

You will be expected to take notes, watch some videos on Youtube, and read on some websites.

At the end of this Webquest, you will be asked to present your findings in a written form (A page long essay on the chosen Latin American country by including your findings of its culture, geography, and economy).

The main purpose of this Webquest is to get yourself familiar with Latin American culture and the specific features of some certain LATAM countries.

Please remember that you can always consult your instructor during the process (umut.akca@metu.edu.tr).

Process

Please choose one LATAM country between Venezuela, Colombia, and Argentina. Please make sure you watched and read the material provided thoroughly. As you will be asked to show what you have learned from these sources, it is important to pay attention to the material. Please make sure you include at least one of the videos or reading material as your source :)

The deadline is this Friday (11/13/2020) 12 PM. You can e-mail your work to me at umut.akca@metu.edu.tr.

Venezuela

Venezuela is a country on the northern coast of South America with diverse natural attractions. Along its Caribbean coast are tropical resort islands including Isla de Margarita and the Los Roques archipelago. To the northwest are the Andes Mountains and the colonial town of Mérida, a base for visiting Sierra Nevada National Park. Caracas, the capital, is to the north.

Argentina

It encompasses immense plains, deserts, tundra, and forests, as well as tall mountains, rivers, and thousands of miles of ocean shoreline. Argentina also claims a portion of Antarctica, as well as several islands in the South Atlantic, including the British-ruled Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas).
