Evolutionary Theory

Introduction

Learn and master one of the most concrete and captivating theories in modern history - The Evolutionary Theory. This subcategory of anthropology is very interesting, true, and should be common knowledge. Students will research in a unique way to construct a well written paper on the origins and effects of the Evolutionary Theory.

Task

This paper will not be as traditional as the essays you are used to. A variety of resources will be required. This extensive set of studying will allow the students to gain as much information and perspective as possible on the subject.

  • Students will be required to visit the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City, Mexico.
  • A total of three academic textbooks will be necessary to study for research.
  • Extensive online research will also be required. A total of five educational websites will be required to be drawn from.
  • After researching, the students will start on their essays. The essay will be in MLA format and should reach about 1250-1500 words in total. This should equate to about 4&1/2-5 pages.

Process

Students will be awarded three weeks (21 days) to research for the topic. Prior to traveling to Mexico City to visit the museum, time will be taken to choose which textbooks and websites will be the most informative and enlightening. These sources will have to be sent to the instructor and approved by them. It is also important to note that these sources should be cited in the bibliography. After research is done via text, the trip to the National Museum of Anthropology will be conducted. Upon arrival, students will be divided into groups of three to incentivize group discussion and accountability. This collaboration will be vital for getting the most out of the museum and learning a lot about evolution. All of the members of the group will be required to take at least a full page of notes. After spending a day at the museum, they can get started on their paper.
