Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type

Introduction

Grade Level: Second/Third Grade

In Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type, by Doreen Cronin, Farmer Brown is having a problem with his farm animals.  They enjoy typing letters to him and leaving them on the barn door.  The cows are using their typing abilities to get what they want from Farmer Brown.  If you were a cow in Click, Clack, Moo, what would you ask Farmer Brown for?

Task

Standard 3.W.6.2Demonstrate command of capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.

After reading and watching the read-aloud video of Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type, students will do prompted research about cows and their role on a farm.  Then, they will brainstorm about what they would ask Farmer Brown for if they were a farm animal in the book.  After getting all of their ideas together, they will then act as if they were writing a letter to Farmer Brown mentioning all of the items that they would ask for and why.  They will then check over their work to make sure of correct grammar and spelling.  After this, they will share their letters and discuss the theme of the book.

Students will complete this activity by using the links provided with each step of the process.
