Adventures Around the World

Introduction

Welcome to our web quest! Our web quest will take you on two different field trips. One to a zoo to learn about different types of animals and one to a botanical garden where you will get to learn about different kinds of plants! You will be able to gain knowledge about how different the animals are when compared to one another as well as the plants. Have fun exploring!

We designed this web quest specifically for 1st grade science students. Our main focus was the State Standard 1.LS.3 Make observations of plants and animals to compare the diversity of life in different habitats.

Doing these virtual field trips of the zoo and the botanical garden will have the students be able to observe different animals and plants in different habitats.

Next: Write on a piece of a paper the different animals you see, what they eat, and what kind of habitat they live in. If you need help spelling or writing your thoughts out, ask your teacher for help! There will be a 10 minute break after the video to make sure every student has their spelling checked or their questions answered.

Next: Write on a piece of paper the different plants you see, what they need to survive, and the habitat they live in.

Things to think about:

How are the animals different from one another?

Do all the animals eat the same thing?

Do all the animals live in the same habitat?

Do all the plants look alike?

Do all the plants need the same things to grow?

After the field trips are over, your teacher will have a discussion with you about what you just seen in the digital field trips.

Evaluation

The next day, you will need to write a TWO paragraphs about the virtual field trips that you went on. Be sure to include information about the animals, the plants, their habitats, the foods that the animals eat, and what the plants need to survive.

Below is a rubric for your teacher to grade your papers you have written on during your virtual field trips.

HAPPY THINKING!
