Objective: 1. Define the term sentence
2. Identify the four types of sentences
3. Place the correct punctuation mark at the end of each sentence.
A sentence expresses a complete thought. A sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark.
There four types of sentences
1. Declarative- A declarative sentence makes a statement or gives an opinion. It ends with a full stop. E.g. Water exists in three states.
2. Interrogative - An interrogate sentence asks a question. It ends with a question mark (?) E.g Where is the waterfall?
3. Imperative - An imperative sentence gives a command. It ends with a full stop(.) E.g. Boil that water.
4. Exclamatory- An exclamatory sentence expresses strong or sudden feeling . It ends with exclamation mark(!) E.g. That water is hot!
