Introduction
Welcome Historians!
Today we will be thinking about the past and the present in our own lives and environment. Let's start by taking a group photo!
Task
Your task is to find out as much information as possible to figure out how things have changed in our community between the past and the present! We can also go a little bigger and think about the world!
Process
Activity 1:
Watch the below video to answer the following questions:
- What used to be used to take photos before digital photography?
- How can you tell if a photograph was taken a long time ago?
- What are the differences in the photo we took earlier to the ones shown in the video?
Activity 2:
Head over to Google Maps and navigate around the local area and be directed to find old building/monument in our suburb. Answer three questions:
What indicates that this is an old building/monument?
Has this changed over time?
Why do you think it is still there?
Evaluation
Students will create a PowerPoint presentation to demonstrate what they have learned. They will find pictures that represent the past and the present in the following categories and arrange them into a presentation with transitions.
- Toys
- Cars
- Homes
- Phones
- Computers
Conclusion
What an amazing presentation! You have shown how much knowledge you have about the past and the present!
