Introduction

Plagiarism is the act of stealing information and passing it off as your own. 

There are  different types of Plagiarism: 

1. Copying words or ideas from any source without giving them credit. 

2. Submitting someone else's work, words or ideas as your own. 

3.  Failing to state your source of information. 

4. Buying or stealing an essay or project. 

5. Hiring someone to do your project. 

 

How can a student avoid Plagiarism??

1. Giving credit to your source of information by writing a BIBLIOGRAPHY  and doing INTEXT CITATIONS. 

2. By PARAPHRASING : putting someone else's words into your own words and giving proper credit through INTEXT Citations.

3. By Quotation: placing direct words taken from a source in quotation Mark's (" "). 

4. By using your own words.

1. You are asked to summarize a chapter from your literature text book but instead you find one in the back of the text and copy it in your notebook without stating where you took it from. Is this plagiarism?

5.You use information from the internet to complete your project, you copy and paste  the information in your project, however,you write a bibliography to let your teacher know where you got the information from. Is this plagiarism?

6.  Your science teacher assigns you to groups and gives you assignments to complete as a group. Your group completes the assignments and each member turns in a copy of the same assignment with individual names at the tops and group members name in the paragraph. Is this plagiarism?
