Introduction
Hello Sixth Grade Class! My name is Michaela and I need your help!
Unfortunately I lost all my notes on a speech I was supposed to give about the 1960’s. Luckily I heard from your teacher that you guys have been studying about that time period in history class! I was told that this class has just what it takes to find information for my speech. Help me by finding unique and important facts about the 1960’s and hurry! I only have three days before my speech!
Task
Your task is to work in your groups that I have put you in and write a short essay about the information you discover about the 1960’s. You will also have to make a poster board with different pictures and/or drawings that you may want to add. You will then present your poster and essay in front of the class. Everyone needs to speak an equal amount of time so I know you all worked on it. The goal of this assignment is to get you to be creative with history.
Process
The Specifics:

Go to the resources tab and start your research. You will find pictures,videos, and websites that have articles and speeches from the 1960’s.

The essay should be one or two pages long.

Include at least three different people who made a big impact on life in the 1960’s.The essay should be double spaced and in times new roman 12 point font. If you would rather hand write the essay that is acceptable as well. If you choose to hand write make sure to double space as well.

The essay should be glued to the center of the poster.

On the poster include all three pictures of whomever your group thought were the most significant people from the 1960’s.

On the poster have AT LEAST THREE pictures of different events or pictures referencing an event that occurred during the 1960’s.

If you would like to post more pictures of different events or people be sure to be prepared to talk about them.

Make sure you and your group's names are on the poster somewhere.

The presentation must be at least 6 minutes long.

Conclusion
Thank you so much for all your hard work and help! I am sure my speech will be absolutely amazing! I also hope that this project helped you appreciate learn from the people who helped shape our society. While we will not always agree with how society handles situations it is important to remember that we are all a part of history in the making. Who knows, maybe one day I will be giving a speech about you!

This project was designed to get students to learn not only how to research properly. But to also learn how to take what they researched and create something unique and imaginative with it. It was also designed to show students what people are responsible or helped make changes in our society.
Objective: Students will be able to learn how to gather the important facts about a time period and learn how certain time periods affected the society they live in today.
