Writing your own letter! 8th grade: Countries, cultures and customs

Introduction

Welcome students!.

Here is all the information you need for writing your letter.

Task

Instructions

  1. Choose a country from the list on your handout.

  2. Then, imagine that you are living in the country you chose. You want to tell your best friend how you are doing and how the culture is there.

  3. Next, you have to write a letter to your best friend telling them:

  • the language spoken
  • food
  • 2 traditions and 1 national celebration
  • At least 1 historical place that you have visited.
  • what caught your attention.

  • Choose a country: Chile, Perú, Argentina, Spain, USA, Bolivia.

  • Write the letter in 250-260 words

  • Use the basic structure of an informal letter:

    -Sender’s address

    -Date

    -Greeting

    -Reason for writing the letter

    -Body (content)

    -Closing and signature

  • Pay attention to punctuation:  Comma, periods, etc

  • Use at least 3 connectors (and, but, also)

  • Use at least 3 sequencers ((first..., next..., then..., last, finally.)

  • Pay attention to punctuation:  Comma, periods, etc

  • Use at least 6 connectors (and, but, also, so)

After your classmates' comments, revise your letter and make some changes if you need.
