Introduction
Upon doing all the tasks you will learn more about task-based instruction.
Task
Step 1. Follow the link https://www.fluentu.com/blog/educator/task-based-language-teaching-activities/ and answer the following questions:
- What is TBI/TBL?
- What is the focus in TBL?
- What are some reasons for using TBI?
- What is the idea behind "real life" tasks in TBI?
- What is the classification of task types in TBI?
- What are the main differences between each type of task types in TBI?
- Think up 1-2 examples for each of the task types in TBI.
- What is the sequence of a TBI-lesson?
- What is the role of the teacher in TBI?
Step 2. Now follow another link https://www.teachingenglish.org.uk/article/six-types-task-tbl and make up a table with common types of tasks in TBI.
- What are the benefits of such tasks?
- What makes them "real-life" tasks?
- If you were a student, why could you be interested in doing such tasks?
Step 3. Follow the link https://www.teachingenglish.org.uk/article/tbl-pbl-two-learner-centred-approaches and say:
- What is project-based teaching?
- Is project-based learning/teaching connected with TBL? Why? Why not?
- Draw up a list of 3-5 projects English language learners may take. Prove that via this method they will practice the needed language.
Conclusion
Make up a summary (of no more than 10 sentences) saying why English language teachers should start using TBI/TBL.
