What is Computer: A computer is an electronic device that is designed to work with Information. The term computer is derived from the Latin term ‘computare’, this means to calculate or programmable machine. A computer can not do anything without a Program. The Word 'Computer' usually refers to the Center Processor Unit plus Internal memory.
Charles Babbage is called the "Grand Father" of the computer. The First mechanical computer designed by Charles Babbage was called Analytical Engine. It uses read-only memory in the form of punch cards.
Computer is an advanced electronic device that takes raw data as input from the user and processes these data under the control of set of instructions (called program) and gives the result (output) and saves output for the future use. It can process both numerical and non-numerical (arithmetic and logical) calculations.
We will learn the various parts of a computer that assists with the overall operation.
Task
At the end of this WebQuest, you will be able to identify, describe and list the various parts of a computer. This will be achieved by researching the following:
- Monitor
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- Printer
- Speaker
- CPU
- Scanner
- Storage Device
- Microphone
At the end, you should be more familiar with all of the above.
Process
You will start your computers and open google search and a new word document. You will research each of the following terms:
- Input Devices
- Output Devices
- Storage Devices
Be sure to write the definition of each of the device and list at least three (3) examples of each devices.
You will also research each of the following terms:
- Monitor
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- Printer
- Speaker
- CPU
- Scanner
- Storage Device
- Microphone
During your research, please be sure to include the following:
- Definition
- What is the purpose of this device (What is it used for)
- Add an image of each device
When your research is completed, organize your findings using word document and include a cover page. Be sure to add your name, today's date and the title: Parts of a Computer.
Save the document using your first initial, last name and title.
