Introduction
Hello class! Today we will be discussing the different processes of Mitosis and Meiosis. These are two different processes of cell division! Before we get started, I would like you to take out your notebooks for our class, and get out colored pencils. Let's dive in to the world of cell division.
Task
Now that you have out your notebooks, please open them to the next empty page. I would like you to draw a KWL chart. Start by filling out the Know section of that chart. What do you already know about cells and cell division?
You will also fill out the Want section of your chart. What do you want to know about cell division? What do you think you will learn throughout this assignment?
Once you are finished, you will begin to watch videos that walk you through the process of cell division. The videos are linked below. As you watch the videos, take notes in your notebook about both processes. Once the videos are finished, you can move on to the next step.
Process
Now that you have completed the videos, fill out your KWL chart. What have you learned about cell division? What surprised you? Is there anything that you want to learn more about?
Evaluation
Now, I would like you to create a poster of either mitosis, or meiosis. I would like to see a lot of color, and explaining all the different stages. Please draw pictures of each stage. This can be done on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of plain white paper. These will be shared with your seat partner.
