THE TASK: In groups of four, you are going to do a role-play performing a cooking situation. You will reproduce a cooking show situation.

Click on the button 'process' to follow the steps!

Have fun!

Process

1. Correct the homework with the teacher.

(Rewatching the video again to check your answers).

PRE-TASK:

2. In groups of four watch the following videos about how to cook a healthy fish pie.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sX4fCgg-UI&t=3s

3. Rewatch the video. Can you see any expressions of quantity?

4. Within the group, consider the second box (the one just above) and complete the rules with few, a few,

little, a little, lots of and plenty of.

1. We use (a) and (b) with uncountable nouns nouns to emphasise a very small amount.

2. We use (c) and (d) with countable nouns to talk about small amounts.

3. (e) and (f) on their own have a negative meaning. By adding (g), the meaning becomes more positive.

4. We use (h) and (i) with countable and uncountable nouns to emphasise a large amount.

5. Send your answers in a Word or Oppen Office document to the teacher's email.

6. All together, create five sentences containing expressions of  quantity from the first box (i.e. a bar of chocolate, a packet of noodles...) and five sentences containing five expressions of quantity from the second box (i.e. planty of food...). Write at least one expression of quantity per sentence.

7. After finishing, one of the group members should type the answers in a Word or Oppen Office document and send them to the teacher's email.

TASK:

1- After doing the previous activities, you should think about the roles of every group member. Remember that you are 4 people:

  • SCRIPT WRITERS: you should write the script of  a cooking show. One stundent will be the host and the other the students. In order to do it properly, you should consider the type of healthy pie you want to cook. To explain the recipe correctly, don't forget to use imperatives and expressions of quantity. Here you have some kitchen verbs useful for this task:

  • ACTORS/ACTRESSES: The 4 members of the group will film or record the cooking show in front of the camera or microphone.  You must read and remember the script. Practise your role a couple of times in order to perform it right!
  • CAMERA OPERATOR: In case you use https://flipgrid.com/ (use this code: flipgrid.com/enoral4),  one member at a time will have to record the  with the cooking show with the camera on the mobile phone. This communicative situation cannot last more than 3 minutes.

    • However, if you decide to record your voice with https://voicethread.com/, make sure that your voice is audible. This communicative situation cannot last more than 3 minutes.

2- Finally, your task is competed successfully!

Evaluation

In order to assess you, I will use two rubrics posted on the website.

Additionally, I will give you some individual and group feedback.

Conclusion

Finally, you have finished the task! You should feel very confident if you need to plan any cooking recipe! I hope you have taken in everything we have learnt in this Webquest!

I will correct your cooking show with the rubrics and I will give you some individual and group feedback by email.

Remember that you use quantifiers to express quantity without precision (a few, a little, many, much a jar of..., a loaf of..., a bar of... and so on). It is important to bear in mind that:

  • they tell us how many or how much of something there is.

  • they accompany countable and uncountable nouns.

See you soon with more Webquests!
