Introduction
Scientists have created many theories to help explain where all the water on Earth could have come from.
Task
Each student must research and chose one theory they think best explains where all the water on Earth came from.
Process
Theory #1 - gradual hydration from water stored in rocks during the formation of our Earth
Theory #2 - Volcanic eruptions caused hydrogen and oxygen to combine during Earths infancy.

Theory #3 - Water came from meteors

Theory #4 - Oxygen and hydrogen were present when the rocky core of the Earth was forming - Everything formed at the same time

Evaluation
Each student in the group must chose a different theory to research and answer the following questions. One article is linked under each theory to get you started. You can also discover other articles on your own.
All answers must be in complete sentences.
1. Which theory did you choose?
2. Give at LEAST 5 details about the theory. You should be able to fully describe the theory to the rest of your group. You should include evidence that supports your theory.
3. What evidence refutes (is against) your theory?
4. What do you think? Write at 3 sentences to tell what you think about this theory and WHY.
5. Find at least 3 binary compounds present in the Earth's atmosphere. Find the most common oxidation number for each element present in the compound and draw the Lewis structure for each compound.
