Learning homonyms

Introduction

In this lesson, you will learn about homonyms. Homonyms are each of two or more words having the same spelling but different meanings and origins. These can be very confusing seeing as how they are the same word with different meanings, so figuring out which word to use is what we are working on in this lesson. By the end of this lesson you will be able to use homonyms correctly and efficiently through your work.

Task

By the end of the lesson students will be able to use homonyms in a short story they will create with their classmates. It must be a minimum of 8 sentences and they can present it in a creative way if they so chose. by watching videos and using what they already know about some of these words, they will be able to effectively use homonyms not only for this lesson, but for everyday life.

Process

Students will watch and take notes on the differences

Next students will take what they have just learned about homonyms and do a worksheet of fill in the blank.  https://busyteacher.org/23932-which-homonym.html

Then we are going to break off in groups to work on a short story of homonyms. Students will go around the room and start with number 1 through 4 until all students have a number then get into those groups. use homonyms list given. https://busyteacher.org/13308-homonyms-list.html

After that is complete, students will either volunteer to present their stories or go in chronological order to present. Minimum of 8 sentences and can be presented creatively if they so chose.

Conclusion

I feel this is a good lesson because it is simple but powerful. it is easy enough where my students who struggle wont feel left out, but it is still challenging for those who understand and retain things easier. I feel as if the video may be a little long (about 12 minutes), but he is engaging, so I'm hoping he keeps them engaged. students expressed their interest and I will know they learned something when they present their short stories.
