Create Your Own Bilingual School

Introduction

Bilingual education is becoming more and more popular in our world today. We can connect to almost any part of the world instantly, which makes being bilingual, or even multilingual, very beneficial.

You and your friends are moving to an area that requires every student to be enrolled in a bilingual school. You don't like any of the options the area provides, so you decide to open a new one together. You must research the components that make up a bilingual school and together decide on what your school will offer its students. Have fun, and good luck!

Task

Task 1: Research the components of bilingual schools and write at least a one-page report per group member. Report should be typed in Times New Roman, 12-point font, and double-spaced. PLAGIARISM = ZERO.

  • Answer the following questions:
    • What types of bilingual education models and programs already exist? What are they like? (Group member 1)
    • What are the benefits of bilingual education (cognitive, social, financial, etc.)? (Group member 2)
    • If you had the chance in real life, would you like to attend a bilingual school? Why or why not? (Everyone)

Task 2: Create a Google Slide presentation for people interested in enrolling in your school (only one per group).

  • Include the following in your presentation:
    • The name of your school
    • The logo for your school
    • The type of bilingual school (example: school will teach all classes half a day in English and half a day in the target language)
    • Prices
    • Classes offered
    • Extra curricular activities offered
    • Types of instructors (native speakers, how many years of experience, etc.)
    • Uniforms or no uniforms
    • Any other important information
  • Your presentation should be easy for potential students and parents to read. It should also be visually attractive.
