Introduction
Raa Maumahara was celebrated for the first time in New Zealand on the 28 October, 2017. It is a day that has been set aside to acknowledge all those who fought and fell during the New Zealand Land Wars. The date, 28 October, was chosen because it is the Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1835.
