Aboriginal Leaders

Introduction

There are many aboriginal leaders in Canada, nowadays, who have a great impact on both aboriginal and non-aboriginal communities. You may already know some of them but simply may not know that they are indigenous. It's time to learn more about them!

Task

You will be provided with a list of Aboriginal movers and shakers in 2016 through a link and another list of Aboriginal. Choose only one important indigenous person you may be interested in. Then, you will be guided to further research about the chosen well known aboriginal figure and answer a few questions. Then, you will be asked to create a learning product in a format of your choice. You are expected to share your product with the class. 

Learning goals:

1. Explore current contributions of important Indigenous people through research 

1. Create an informative piece of work of your choice to share the gather information with your peers. 

Process

Part 1

Create a word document for this assignment and save it  with the title " Aboriginal Leaders" Copy and paste the following questions and type in your work. 

Think of one well-known person of your country of origin. Write a short paragraph on why this is an important person to your country of origin highlighting his/her major contributions.

The above website provides a list of Native leaders in Canada in a chronological order. Once you enter the website, scroll down to the period 1987-present and click on any of the people to choose one native leader. You will see a brief informative paragraph for that particular leader. Come up with 6 questions that you think that most people would be interested to know about the native leader. Record the questions on the word document you created and saved in Part 1. Conduct independent research to gather information to answer the questions you came up with. Record this information on the word document. Also, answer your own questions based on your recorded information.

The above website introduces a list of indigenous movers and shaker in Canada in 2016. Once you enter the website see through the list and click on any name of your interest. Some information is provided for each important native people on that list. Record the questions on the word document you created and saved in Part 1. Conduct independent research to gather information to answer the questions you came up with. Record this information on the word document. Also, answer your own questions based on your recorded information. 

Part 3 

Use your all the work you recorded on the word document to create a PPT, Prezi, Google slides, poster or any other format of your choice. You will present your creation to the class.
