THE FOOD PYRAMID-Healthy living 101-

Introduction

Healthy living 101: This course was created as to make kids understand the food pyramid and its different purposes in a dinamic way. The course will begin with the the presentation of each alumni and will escalte quickly with the aplication the task that will be discussed on the first day.

Task

WORK TO BE DONE:

1. USING THE SHOOPPER OF THE SUPERMARKET THE STUDENT WILL IDENTIFY WHICH ARE THE CORRECT ITEMS HE OR SHE SHOULD CONSUME.

2.THE STUDENTS SHOULD DO RESEARCH IN ORDER TO PREPARE AN ORAL PRESENTATION.

3.CARDBOARD USING THE SHOOPER FROM THE SUPERMARKET. 

4. COLLAGE IN SHAPE OF A FRUIT WITH IMAGES FROM THE FOOD PYRAMID. 

5.FINAL TEST: KNOLEDGE COMPREHENSION. 

 

Process

Process for the task:

1) The student can choose the market of he's choice and must write down in he's notebook the nutritional fact of the products from the food pyramid that he or she bought.

2)Each student will be assigned a part of the food pyramid which he or she will provide in the presentation how important is the part assigned.

3)The cardboard presentation must include a self-made food pyramid with pictures taken out of a newspaper or magazine.

4)The student may choose to make the collage of any fruit of their choice. Its a free task and the picture can be any of their choice in accordance with the ones from the food pyramid.

5)A final test of all the material covered along the semester.

Evaluation

1)Market Project 50 points.

2)Oral presentation 50 points.

3)Cardboard Presentation 50 points.

4)Fruit collage 50 points.

5)Final test (Extra grade) 50 points

Conclusion

  • BY THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT SHOULD LEARN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF EATING HEALTHY.
  • THE COURSE WILL BE GRADED ACCORDINGLY WITH THE TASK FROM THE EVALUATION BUT, THE COURSE COULD ALSO BE APPROVED WITH A GENERAL EXAM FROM EVERY SINGLE CONCEPT DISCUSSED IN CLASS AS AN EXTRA ALTERNATIVE.
