What is the Bill of Rights? How is this old document relevant to us today? Your task today is to define the meaning of the Bill of Rights, what is an amendment is.
Process
Original source documents are important for any research project. Lets look at the Constitution and the first 10 amendments to the Constitution. As with any original source, it may be necessary to define the meaning of some terms to clarify the intended meaning of that time.
We will read together the first amendment and rewrite it using our generations common terms. Afterwards, you will be assigned a group. Your group will work together to explain the assigned amendment in common terms.
Evaluation
Now that you have studied the amendments, you will have a chance to work together to propose your own amendment. Your amendment will be presented via power point or other presentation method to the class. Other students will have the opportunity to ask questions about your presentation.
Conclusion
We will vote on the amendment you think should be added to the Constitution.
