Introduction
You will investigate one severe weather event and create a PowerPoint to share what you have learned.
Task
You will be pre-assigned a weather topic from the below listed severe weather conditions. You will gather information using the websites below. You will be creating a PowerPoint that will include this information.
1. A description of your disaster
2. What causes this disaster
3. The effects this disaster has on the environment and or people
4. How to prepare for this disaster
The severe weather events that we will be researching:
- Hurricanes
- Tornadoes
- Blizzards
- Thunderstorms
- Floods
- Monsoons
- Avalanches
- Wildfires
Your information will be recorded on a data collection sheet which will be given to you at the start of this project.
Process
1. You will be researching and taking notes on weather topics to become informed meteorologists.
2. You will be assigned one severe weather condition to create an infographic. You will be using weather data that you have gathered using pre-selected websites and video clips.
3. Fourth graders will learn about the normal weather patterns of our area, and also severe storms that occur in the United States including hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, floods, monsoons, wildfires, avalanches, and thunderstorms. Students will also learn how to be prepared for extreme weather.
