Education in Africa

Introduction

In this WebQuest, we will be looking at education in Africa and how it is different from what happens in the United States.

What problems are occurring in Sub-Saharan African countries like Somalia and Mogadishu?
Name three countries that have been providing assistance to these Sub-Saharan African countries?
Who has suffered the most at the hands of the famine? What are they without?
According to UNICEF what will happen to half the teachers in southern Somalia? 5. How many students might drop out of school due to the famine? 6. What can severely handicap children later in life?
What have quality early childhood development opportunities shown?
How many people have been moved to the Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya?
Who suffers more from the famine and displacement to refugee camps? Boys or Girls
What can be done by humanitarian organizations to help with the problems in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Part 2: Plan your Poster Board Presentation. Use a piece of white computer paper to plan out your poster board.

Decide the roles of group members.

Author - This student will be writing out all of the information they have decided to use on their poster board. They will write the rough draft and the final draft, maybe because they have the best handwriting or do not mind writing a lot.

Illustrator - This students will be drawing and coloring any pictures they wish to put on the poster board. They should be hand drawn but if there is a picture from the Internet that is black and white, they must color it. 1 printed image only.

Editor - This student will be the "leader" of the group. They will be double checking spelling and grammar. They will be making sure the illustrations are clean and make sense to the project. They will also be making sure the poster is organized.

Each person will only do one of the following jobs this project, to make sure the work is distributed fairly.
