Introduction
Eli Whitney and the Cotton Gin.

Before the Cotton Gin slaves had to clean the cotton with their hands. Their hands would get cut and bleed from the thorns. When the slaves cleaned the cotton it took forever. One day in 1793 the inventor Eli Whitney invented the Cotton Gin. He wanted to find a way to help the South clean the cotton faster than doing it by hand and reduce slavery. He would also get a patent on it and receive some money for his invention. Now it’s your turn to lean about the cotton gin.
Task
You can complete one of the two tasks below.
Your first option is for people who like to create things! You will be asked to draw your own small invention. You’ll need to explain how it works and how it helps people.
Your second option will be to find the answers to find 5 facts about Eli W and the cotton gin. At the end of your task there will be a cool Word search. You can start when I say go!
