Introduction
ARE WE EATING ENOUGH VEGETABLES?
Only 5% of Australian children eat enough fruits and vegetables everyday!
Lets look at our eating habits and see if we need to improve!
Task
We need to find out if our class is eating enough vegetables everyday
Through searching the internet as well as keeping your own food diary we will determine
if we are eating enough vegetables!
Process
Tasks to be completed in order:
1. Find out what the recommended serves of vegetables are for an Australian child each day.
2. Find out what 1 serve of a vegetable is equal to. Is it one piece of a vegetable? a whole vegetable?
3. Have a quick look online at what is classified as a vegetable to help you with your next task.
4. Keep a food diary for the next week - only record your vegetable serves and when they are eaten (Breakfast/lunch/dinner/snack)
(You will be provided with a food dairy sheet to complete this)
5. Record the details from your food dairy to represent the data you have collected. You may choose your form of representation (bar graph, pie chart, line graph)
6. As a class we will share our findings and create our own representation of the information. From this you will be given a sheet of questions to complete about our findings as well as the option to represent the findings in your chosen format.
