The start of hip-hop was started In the 1970s, an underground urban movement to develop in the Bronx, New York City. It focused on emceeing or raping over "breakbeats", house parties and neighbourhood block party events, held outdoors. DJ Kool Herc,(a man known for starting the culture) Afrika Bambaataa created a street organization called Universal Zulu Nation, centered around hip hop, as a means to draw teenagers out of gang life, drugs and violence. This was just a escape from local struggles, Until it was made something much bigger and spread through out the world.
