Introduction
Welcome, everyone! The weather is drifting from hot to chilly and the leaves are beginning to develop a change of colours and crunch underneath your feet. School is in session and you're already counting down the days to Thanksgiving because you'll get a week off school, enabling you to travel or rest at home and catch up with family and friends. During this week, you'll be looking forward to Thursday, Thanksgiving day, where lots of traditions and good eating takes place. The only thing is that you're new to the United States, and your friends have asked to come over to your place for dinner. You said yes. What are you going to do?

Task
Your task is to plan a traditional Thanksgiving meal for you and friends. You will create a powerpoint that will be presented to the class illustrating a thoughtfully planned Thanksgiving celebration.
Process
1. Your powerpoint must be at least 10 slides and have little words. Please do no read from the screen when presenting.
2. You must explain the tradition; Where does it come from and how it is celebrated today?
3. You must prepare a meal with 10 types of food (excluding the turkey). There should be a sides and dessert. Give us an idea on how long it should take and how much it should cost.
4. Your party must have one traditional activity that does not include Thanksgiving dinner.
5. Thoroughly explain your Thanksgiving schedule as a host. How long will you need to prepare everything? Why did you choose the activity you chose (football game, board games, turkey trot race, etc.)
6. I have provided some sources to give you some ideas and help with the history and tradition section of Thanksgiving.

Evaluation
This assignment will be worth a total of 10 points. 5 of these points will come from the powerpoint itself, 3.0 points will come from the presentation/Speaking, and the final 2.0 points will come from your classmates.
Conclusion
This concludes your journey to become the best Thanksgiving Dinner host. Remember to be creative and to have fun with it. You can learn a lot about a culture by researching and studying specific celebrations. Be patient with your English learning and feel free to use note cards to help you during the presentation (but don't read from them too much).
