Task

Mini Research Project on the Olympian Gods

Because Greek Mythology is the basis of so much Western Literature, a solid understanding of the main Olympian gods and their stories is really helpful and important.  You will work in pairs or alone, but I need 16 groups, so not everyone can work alone!:

Zeus                             Apollo                         Nike

Hera                             Artemis                       Gaia

Aphrodite                    Hades                           Hermes

Dionysus                      Athena                         Helios/ Selene

Hephaestus                   Demeter                       Ares                             Poseidon

For each god/ goddess, you will need to research/teach/present to the class

  • Roman Name: the god’s Roman name
  • Realm: what he/she is the god of
  • Personality: Present a solid characterization of your god/goddess:  personality, temperament, character traits, behavior, etc.  What is this god/goddess like?
  • Creation story: how they came into being/their parents (the 1st six may repeat…)
  • objects associated with them such as animals, trees, flowers, or important symbols
  • people they are married to and/or people they have strong relationships with…this could mean family relationships or otherwise
  • a famous story associated with the god/goddess (not their creation story)
  • Interesting facts ...an alternate story, modern associations, differences in represenations, etc.

Part 1: PowerPoint/digital presentation: We should be visually engaged.

  • At least 10 slides including 1 for a title page, and 1 for a works cited. The other requirements can have their own slide.
  • Each slide must be easy to read. This means using a font color that contrasts the background as well as using a larger pt. and easy to read font.
  • You should have multiple pictures and graphics throughout
  • You may use websites to get information, but you must use at least 1 book.
