Introduction
Grade: 5
Curriculum: Science
Key Words: energy, potential, kinetic
Author: D. Grant- Ramsay
You are all energetic students. Today we will be going to the playground to learn about the types of energy. You are required to have fun while learning. Are you up for the challenge?
Task

Now that you have accepted the challenge, here is what you need to do. Firstly, you need to identify the meaning of the key terms. Then you will be required to identify some types of energy at the playground and classify it as either potential or kinetic. To do this, you will need to visit some links. Finally, you will be required to draw a picture illustrating the two types of energy
Process

We use energy in our everyday lives. But one of the world's number one questions is
A. "What is energy?". Clink this link to learn more.
Identify the meaning of these terms, click the words below
B. Draw pictures depicting potential and kinetic energy
Evaluation
Ok my energetic young ones. By now, Im sure you have all learnt something and you are eager to tell me what you know.

Quiz
Classify the following activities seen at the playground as either kinetic or potential
1.a ball being thrown
2. a car parked in the parking lot
3. a child running
4. a rock siiting on the edge of a cliff
5. a child climbing the monkey bars
6. ____________ is energy in motion
7_______________ is stored energy
8 The ability to work is referred to as __________________
